In 1894, Captain Alfred Dreyfus, a Jewish officer in the French artillery, was convicted of betraying military secrets and sentenced to life in prison. Fout years later, the evidence used at his trial was exposed as a forgery, but it was not until 1906 that he was exonerated. This film portrays the dramatic reopening of the case by Col. Georges Picquart (played by Richard Dreyfuss), whose code of honor is stronger than his personal distaste for Jews. (Also available on DVD: JHVC DVD #IJ 216.) (Age: HS, A).
